Here's a sneak peek at some bookmarks I started waaaay back in February. I finally dug them out of a box and will start stitching soon. Really, the most tedious part is already done (that being the hand cutting of all the circles) You'll understand why I don't make these as quickly or in as great a quantity as the cup cozies. All that cutting and stitching hurts when done in long sessions! These will be in the shop soon.

Who doesn't love free shipping?
To celebrate Canada Day and the 4th of July I'm offering free shipping on all of my coffee cozies from June 27 until July 5.
Yesterday I sold all of my bookmarks!! Yay! I'm now up to 36 sales, I can't believe it! I'll be busy this week painstakingly cutting circles out of felt but it will be worth it!
My dear grandmother fell last weekend and hit her head, broke her arm, and possibly fractured her pelvis so she is staying in respite care at the nursing home to get physio and hopefully return home soon. This past week I've been spending every spare moment knitting her a lap blanket and it's finally done! I've never knit an afghan style blanket before but I used a really simple chevron stitch and I really like how it turned out. I'll be mailing it off to grandma tomorrow!

Rainy Days

We've been lucky the past week or so and have had a lot of sunshine and warmth. Today we're back to typical west coast weather with a gloomy rainy day. I don't mind at all though because I usually get more done without the sunshine trying to lure me outside. Today I get to immerse myself in some of my favourite things: felt, thread, and ribbon. I have a few bookmarks ready for assembly as well. I cut all the circles yesterday and had to take a break because my neck was killing me. Today I get to stitch!

Bookmarks!

I sold my first bookmark today! This now justifies spending time making more of them. I have a lot of fun making them because I love ribbon and felt and buttons. I also love coordinating fun and vibrant colours. I just bought 50 yards of ribbon today. I can't wait to get it in the mail!
On another book related note, anyone who knows me knows that I always have at least three or four books on the go. Right now I'm reading a great book from a series I've been meaning to read for a few years. The series is by Cornelia Funke (translated from the original German) and book one is titled Inkheart (apparently also made into a bad movie). Anyway, I love this book! The 12 yr old protagonist, Meggie is a believable yet intriguing character and the plot is all about books! I'm really enjoying it and that's not a common feeling when it comes to junior fiction. Don't get me wrong, there is a lot of good fiction for kids out there (Sean Cullen, Diana Wynne Jones, Trenton Lee Stewart, just to name a few) but I just wanted to mention how great this book is. It actually reminds me of when I was a kid and immersed myself in a book to escape to a whole new world...this book does that for me.

knitting, stitching, and hockey

I've been busy knitting phone cozies and coffee cozies and I've finally made a few bookmarks I've been wanting to try for a while. I have to say I love the bookmarks! I hate using a boring bookmark, or a thick bookmark that leaves a bump in your book and inevitably falls out when you put your book in your bag. I also love working with felt and just adore mixing vibrant colours. I've had a lot of fun naming the bookmarks too! Even if I don't sell a single one...I'm super happy I made them!
Watching the hockey game at the moment...Canucks of course...I've never really watched play off hockey...must have been the Olympics that got me into it because I watched all the Canadian games. Lets hope the Canucks can wrap it up tonight!
Well, back to knitting coffee cozies and hockey watching.
