For all those Canadians who wonder why they have to pay more than Americans for the same book (especially annoying when our dollar is at parity)...here is a great article from Quill & Quire explaining how it all works and why it should be changed:

Haruki Murakami
I've recently been trying to catch up on my reading of all things Haruki Murakami and as much as I LOVE him and his writing, I can only read so much of it at a time. His work is not only beautifully written but it oozes loneliness and longing. You have be in a really good mood to be able to immerse yourself in his writing. Anyway, just finished Sputnik Sweetheart and loved it...of course. I'm taking a little break by way of reading a juvenile fiction fantasy novel and then I'll be picking up another Murakami. If you haven't read him...DO IT NOW!!!

Dream Job?
I've been applying to library jobs in various types of libraries for over a year now. Nothing has happened. I've been trying to focus on getting a job in Vancouver for obvious reasons but I've come to the conclusion (with some inside info) that I will not get a job in the Vancouver area.
I keep an eye on all the library job boards across the country and I've been applying to jobs all over the place. Last week I saw a posting for a Head Librarian at the Banff Public Library! I couldn't believe my eyes! Not only am I perfectly qualified, it is the most beautiful place in Canada (in my humble opinion). Today I applied and I hope they call...I don't usually get my hopes up about jobs but this is probably a very unique opportunity that comes up once every twenty years. Here's hoping. Fingers crossed.

knitting, stitching, and hockey
I've been busy knitting phone cozies and coffee cozies and I've finally made a few bookmarks I've been wanting to try for a while. I have to say I love the bookmarks! I hate using a boring bookmark, or a thick bookmark that leaves a bump in your book and inevitably falls out when you put your book in your bag. I also love working with felt and just adore mixing vibrant colours. I've had a lot of fun naming the bookmarks too! Even if I don't sell a single one...I'm super happy I made them!
Watching the hockey game at the moment...Canucks of course...I've never really watched play off hockey...must have been the Olympics that got me into it because I watched all the Canadian games. Lets hope the Canucks can wrap it up tonight!
Well, back to knitting coffee cozies and hockey watching.

Mr. X
There's this one car commercial where a bunch of toys come to life and go bowling and go to a bar and get a tattoo - anyway, I just love one of the little guys in the commercial so my resourceful husband found him online and bought him for me from this wonderful shop of handmade items. Can't wait to get him in the mail!!

Team Coco
My husband and I went and saw Conan O'Brien at the Orpheum Theatre last night and it was absolutely amazing. The band was there (minus Max), Andy was there. Guest appearances by The Self Pleasuring Panda (formerly the Masturbating Bear), Triumph, and the Chuck Norris Handle (formerly the Walker Texas Ranger lever). Conan was hilarious and very generous with the fans, posing for pictures and playing his guitar in the aisles! Loved it!
On a crafty note - I also love this Conan doll. Now I need to learn to crochet!

Bonus for feedback
For some reason buyers don't seem to remember to leave feedback. It may not seem all that important to some people but I always check the feedback for the shops I buy from and I find it very valuable. Etsy doesn't have anything in place to require feedback so I'm offering an incentive in my shop.
BONUS* When you purchase something from my shop remember to leave feedback. Those buyers who leave feedback will receive 10% off their NEXT purchase. Just type "feedback" into the message for seller. The 10% will be discounted from the item price (not including shipping) and applied as a refund on PayPal.
I hope it either encourages feedback or repeat buyers or both! I'll let you know how it goes.

Some of my favourite Etsy shops!
So I've had my shop open for about 11 weeks now and I have to admit I've become addicted to browsing Etsy shops. There are sooo many to browse (somewhere around 216,000) but only a few that really catch my attention. I thought I'd share a few of my favourites with you.
